Soil Tillage and Crop Growth Effects on Surface and Subsurface Runoff, Loss of Soil, Phosphorus and Nitrogen in a Cold Climate

چکیده

Most studies on the effects of tillage operations documented losses through surface runoff. On flat areas, subsurface runoff is dominating pathway for water, soil and nutrients. This study presents results from a five-year plot area measuring losses. The treatments compared were (A) autumn ploughing with oats, (B) winter wheat (C) spring barley (n = 3). showed that was main source (67%), total phosphorus (76%), dissolved reactive (75%) nitrogen (89%) Through pathway, lowest occurred ploughed plots. Losses also lower to ploughing. Total higher other treatments. more influenced by than surplus in production. Single extreme weather events, like summer drought 2018 high precipitation October 2014 crucial annual nutrient Considering events agricultural management necessary prerequisite successful mitigation future.

Tillage Effects on Soil Health and Crop Productivity: A Review

The cultivation of agricultural soils has until recently predominantly been achieved by inverting the soil using tools such as the plough. Soil tillage is one of the basic and important components of agricultural production technology. Various forms of tillage are practised throughout the world, ranging from the use of simple stick or jab to the sophisticated para-plough. The practices develope...

Tillage and Crop Rotation Effects on Dryland Soil and Residue Carbon and Nitrogen

Sustainable management practices are needed to enhance soil productivity in degraded dryland soils in the northern Great Plains. We examined the effects of two tillage practices [conventional till (CT) and no-till (NT)], five crop rotations [continuous spring wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) (CW), spring wheat-fallow (W-F), spring wheat-lentil (Lens culinaris Medic.) (W-L), spring wheat-spring whea...

Surface soil phosphorus and phosphatase activities affected by tillage and crop residue input amounts

The effects of tillage and residue input amounts on soil phosphatase (alkaline phosphomonoesterase ALP, acid phosphomonoesterase ACP, phosphodiesterase PD, and inorganic pyrophosphatase IPP) activities and soil phosphorus (P) forms (total P, organic P, and available P) were evaluated using soils collected from a three-year experiment. The results showed that no-till increased soil total and org...

Effects of ridge and conventional tillage systems on soil properties and cotton growth

Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) seeds are susceptible to low temperature and excess moisture in soil during seed emergence in years with high rainfall and low temperature in spring. Therefore, a two-year field experiment was carried out to evaluate effects of ridge tillage formed in autumn (RT-I), ridge tillage formed about a month before planting (RT-II) and flat conventional tillage (CT) culti...
